Fine Art Prints

Mohammad Reza Shah in the Pahlavi Crown, posterized down to flat blocks and halftone dots, with the word شاهنشاه — Shahanshah, King of Kings — tiled across the entire background in gold. The face is half clean line and half dot screen, the way a newspaper photograph breaks up when it is enlarged too far.

Shahanshah is one of the oldest royal titles in the world. The Achaemenids used its Old Persian form on the rock inscriptions at Behistun and Naqsh-e Rostam, and every Iranian dynasty that followed reached back for it.
