Fine Art Prints

Production

Almost the whole page is white. A flat layer of cloud fills the bottom half, the Alborz sit behind it bleached nearly to paper, and the only dark thing anywhere is Milad Tower — head, spire and a length of shaft rising out of the cloud in the exact centre, small against all that empty space.

Milad means birth. The tower carries the name of the district it was built for and has become the thing Tehranis navigate by — visible from most of the city, which is how you get a view like this one. Tehran sits in a basin with the mountains along its northern edge, and in winter a layer of cloud will settle over the city and sit below the peaks, leaving only what is tall enough to stand above it.
