A lenj under full sail, and the poster cut at the waterline so you get both halves of the place at once — turquoise shallows and eroded ochre cliffs above, the reef below: a sea turtle over coral, bannerfish, a parrotfish, dolphins breaking the surface off the bow.
The lenj is the Gulf's own boat, a wooden dhow built by eye rather than by plan. The skills of building and sailing them, and the work songs that go with it, are on the UNESCO intangible heritage list. These hulls ran the routes between Bushehr, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm and the ports of the Indian Ocean for centuries before engines.
